“I’ve thought about doing wedding planning on the side, it looks like it’d be so fun and easy!”
“So whats, like… your real job?”
“It must be so fun getting to just decorate all the time.”
“My Aunt is a wedding planner – she can help you coordinate day of.”
Those are sentences you should never say to a wedding planner.
Let’s be blunt: wedding planning isn’t a cute little side hobby. It’s not something you casually pick up because you organized your sister’s bridal shower or you like making Pinterest boards.
This job is work.
Real work.
Messy, emotional, exhausting, but rewarding-as-hell work.
People see the pretty parts – the flowers, the dresses, the perfectly timed processional – and suddenly everyone thinks they could “totally be a wedding planner”. But unless you’ve lived it, unless you’ve given up parts of your life for it, you have no idea what actually goes into this career.
Don’t get us wrong. We LOVE what we do. But for all the friends and family out there who don’t quite know what it takes to be a wedding planner, this blog post is for you.
If you’re a wedding planner, you can kiss your weekends goodbye – and any holiday that would make a cute anniversary date. While everyone else is taking weekend trips, relaxing, or celebrating a birthday or family event, we’re working.
All those things normal people get to go to?
We miss them.
Not because we don’t care, but because weddings happen when everyone else is off work. Our job runs on everyone else’s free time.
On a wedding day, you are the last priority on the list – and honestly some days you don’t even make the list,
You forget to eat.
You forget to drink water.
You hold your bladder for hours because there is simply no time.
It’s not glamorous. It’s not effortless. It’s a marathon you run without stopping, without sitting, and without complaining. We can’t tell you the amount of times we realize just how badly we have to pee the second we get in our car to drive home – because, that is the first moment our brains aren’t in hyper-drive, making sure every detail of that 300-person wedding goes smoothly.
We aren’t just “coordinating.”
We’re lifting, hauling, running, fixing, climbing, kneeling, sweating, and sprinting across venues – carrying the weight of an entire event on our shoulders.
Your feet hurt.
Your back hurts.
Your brain hurts.
You go home smelling like eucalyptus, hairspray, and cake.
And then you wake up the next morning and do it again.
If anything – anything – goes wrong, we’re the first one everyone looks at.
Wrong linens? Our fault.
Caterer running late? Our fault.
Bartenders didn’t bring the mixers? Our fault.
DJ plays the wrong song? Our fault.
Weather not cooperating? Shockingly, still somehow our fault.
We absorb the stress so the couple doesn’t have to. We take the heat even when it has nothing to do with us. It’s a part of the job.
Because despite the chaos, the exhaustion, the sacrifices… we love this work.
We love watching it all come together.
We love seeing a couple’s face when they walk into their reception for the first time.
We love the magic, the emotion, the once-in-a-lifetime moments we get to help create.
We love love – honestly, maybe more than is normal.
This isn’t a hobby.
This isn’t something we do “for fun.”
This is our life.
It’s our passion… and we wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Some weddings are elegant. Some are a party. But every so often, a wedding comes along that manages to be both—in the most seamless, spectacular way.
James and Ashtyn’s wedding at The Preserve at Canyon Lake was a modern twist on classic luxury: a black and white color palette with bold editorial flair, candlelight everywhere you looked, and fashion-forward design at every turn. But make no mistake—this was also a celebration to remember and their guests showed up and showed out. Think glow sticks, light-up cowboy hats, and a dance floor that didn’t slow down for a second.
As a Planning + Design client, James and Ashtyn trusted us to carry their vision from inspiration board to reality—and the result was a wedding that looked like a luxury editorial and felt like the best night of your life.

If you ever hear anyone say black and white weddings are boring, make sure you show them this gallery. James and Ashtyn took a tried-and-true classic and gave it a warm, modern flair that can’t be described as anything other than stunning.
Having the honor to bring their vision to reality through florals and rentals felt extra special to us. For their ceremony they wanted to keep it simple but romantic, not wanting to take away from the stunning view the floor to ceiling windows showcase at The Preserve. The aisle was lined with white rose petals and dreamy candles, and 4 white columns topped with florals framed James and Ashtyn as they said their I do’s. Simple. Sweet. Stunning.
Cocktail hour showcased a comfortable lounge set and a 7ft tall seating chart with custom seating cards and a floral box filled with greenery and white blooms at the bottom. The showstopper at the reception was the vined greenery draped from the curved staircase that created a beautiful statement piece.
Reception centerpieces consisted of vined greenery, floral arrangements of white blooms, and a lot of candles that gave the entire reception hall a warm cozy glow. We can’t forget to mention their light up marquee letter initials that sat in front of the DJ booth.

James & Ashtyn prioritized their guests’ experience and pulled out all the stops. Beginning with their choice of venue, they took into consideration the weather of a February wedding and chose a venue that offered an indoor ceremony site. We were lucky for beautiful weather on the day of the wedding, but one thing about us Texans is we don’t like to be cold.
They wanted to ensure guests got to enjoy a night of luxury with a plated dinner, an open bar, and a DJ they brought in from Dallas that kept the night lively, fun, and the dance floor popping.

Late into the evening, James and Ashtyn took a quiet moment away from the crowd for a mini editorial-style photoshoot—and we’re still swooning. Moody lighting, sleek posing, high-fashion energy. It’s giving Vogue wedding spread and we were here for it.

When we say the reception came to life—we mean lit up. Literally.
The DJ kept the energy sky-high and the dance floor was non-stop the entire evening. James and Ashtyn made sure to include fun props like light up disco cowboy hats and light up glow sticks that the guests loved.
We could try and describe it to you more, but we’ll let the photos do the talking.

We can’t share photos of their wedding and not carve out a little section just to show off these two a little more. Through the entire planning process they were incredibly sweet, thoughtful and just incredible to work with. They were intentional in their approach and you didn’t need to be there to look at these photos and see how in love they are.

We couldn’t wrap this up without sharing the sweetest update: James and Ashtyn are now expecting their first baby! Watching their journey continue is the greatest joy, and we couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter in their love story.
If you’re dreaming of a classy wedding with a modern twist, give us a call and we’ll help bring your dreams to life.

Let’s talk about the thing nobody wants to talk about but everyone has to: the wedding budget. Whether you’re working with $15k or $150k, the math still matters. A wedding can be as extravagant or as intimate as you want — but only if you plan for it. Otherwise? You’re booking that dream venue and realizing two months later you’ve got $42 left for florals, food, and your DJ.
So here are some budget do’s and don’ts to help you spend smarter—and with way less stress.

Before you start pinning that 7 piece invitation suite to your Pinterest Board or tour that venue you’ve seen all over Instagram, sit down and talk money. Not only is it important to talk money with each other, you also need to include anyone who might be contributing. That includes parents, grandparents, the rich aunt who loves a party, whoever may be pitching in. It is important to have a clear understanding of:
Getting clear up front avoids surprise opinions (and surprise strings) later on.
We get it. The place is stunning. It has chandeliers, a pond, and a cow named Dolly in the pasture. But if your $30k budget gets cut in half on day one, you’ll be doing mental gymnastics to afford everything else.
A good rule of thumb? Your venue + catering should total no more than 40–50% of your overall budget combined. That leaves room for photography, florals, planning, music, rentals, fashion, and the actual party. Every wedding has different priorities so it can vary slightly, but above all if your budget is $30,000, that $15,000 venue is out of budget. Period.

Not everything has to be a splurge. Sit down and rank your top 3 priorities — maybe it’s killer food, incredible photos, and a live band. Spend accordingly. And, if custom stationery or a cigar roller isn’t a big deal to you? Cool. Skip it.
Your day, your rules. Just… make those rules make financial sense.
You think you’re saving money by buying your own table cloths and assembling 20 centerpieces the night before your wedding, but what you’re actually doing is assigning your bridal party unpaid labor and stressing everyone out. Not to mention the supplies, time, setup, breakdown… It adds up. Fast.
Oh, and if your plan is to sell it on Facebook Marketplace to get cash back? Good luck. While some items may sell quickly, your linens will inevitably be stained, your candles half burnt, and your faux florals may not match another bride’s color palette making it a tough sale.
Sometimes, hiring a pro is the more affordable option when you factor in time, rental costs, and sanity.

Taxes. Tips. Service fees. Delivery charges. Dress alterations. Insurance. Not glamorous, but VERY real. These sneaky line items can total thousands, so include a buffer for all the little things that like to pop up during planning.
If you’re planning a honeymoon, a farewell brunch, or even a late-night taco truck, those are all part of the wedding budget. Plan accordingly or they’ll be the first things to get axed when you’re out of cash and still need a DJ.

If you haven’t planned a wedding before, sticker shock is real. That’s why hiring a planner is so helpful. We know the ballpark prices, how to stretch your dollar, and which vendors are worth every penny.
If you’re not working with a planner, do your research. A quick Google isn’t always accurate — local rates vary. Ask vendors for price ranges early, and don’t ghost them if it’s out of budget. Be honest. Most are happy to recommend alternatives or customized packages.

You can have a wildly beautiful, intentional wedding without maxing out every credit card you own. The key is planning with your head and your heart—and maybe a slightly color-coded spreadsheet.
Need help building a realistic budget and sticking to it? That’s literally what we do. Let’s make your money work smarter, not harder.

If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like when two ridiculously kind, gorgeous humans tie the knot in the most picturesque Spanish-style venue imaginable – let us introduce you to Cooper and Audrey and their Pinterest-worthy wedding at Lost Mission. With thoughtful details, gorgeous floral design, and a couple straight out of a fairytale, we knew this wedding needed its own little corner of the internet to share with the world.

Lost Mission is a hidden gem nestled among the trees, with architecture inspired by historic Spanish missions. Its stucco walls, scenic courtyard, and romantic chapel created the perfect setting for Cooper and Audrey’s spring wedding. Located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, this venue is a favorite among couples seeking old-world charm with modern amenities. We’re particularly obsessed with the fire wall amenity they offer in the cocktail hour area and the mission bell couples get to ring as they recede from ceremony.

Cooper and Audrey hired our team for wedding planning and design services which meant we got to be there from the beginning when their vision was only a collage of images on a Pinterest Board all the way through setup and execution on wedding day. Because we handle the design process in-house with our team of experienced designers and florists, we were able to take their Pinterest board and bring it to life with intentional, cohesive elements and personal touches at every turn.
From design meetings to layout planning and curated rentals and florals, every detail was aligned with their vision. The result? A wedding that didn’t just look like the inspiration – it surpassed it in a way that was uniquely them.

This day was full of meaningful moments and custom details that made the celebration uniquely theirs:

Cooper and Audrey’s wedding color palette was the perfect blend of romantic and playful—with rich reds, soft pinks, and subtle accents of dusty blue woven throughout the day. These colors weren’t just beautiful—they helped set the tone for the entire design. We leaned into vibrant florals to bring their color story to life, designing beautiful arrangements that popped against the neutral Spanish-style backdrop of Lost Mission. The mix of bold and soft tones gave the entire wedding a timeless-meets-whimsical feel.

Photography was a top priority for Cooper and Audrey. They wanted someone who captured every detail, emotion, and candid moment with perfection. They put their trust in the very capable hands of Christy Anna Photography who delivered all that (and more) with the delivery of their final gallery. Their gallery is full of every intentional detail and heartfelt imagery that tells their story from start to finish.

Cooper and Audrey’s Lost Mission wedding was romantic, personal, and packed with stylish, heartfelt details. It was such an honor to bring their vision to life through planning and design—and even more of a joy to witness their love firsthand. (They were basically a real life Barbie and Ken).

Some weddings just have that effortless blend of fun, personality, and pure love, and Kristen and Beau’s western wedding at Hideout on the Horseshoe was exactly that. It was the perfect mix of cowboy charm, heartfelt moments, and a party that kept going all night long.

Let’s start with the first look—because it was hands down one of the funniest we’ve seen. Beau stood there, all ready for his big moment, expecting to turn around and see his bride for the first time. But when he finally turned, it wasn’t Kristen standing there—it was their dog! The look on his face was priceless. And don’t worry, he got the real first look with Kristen afterward, and it was just as sweet as you’d imagine.

Of course, we have to talk about their horses. Kristen and Beau didn’t just include them in the wedding—they made sure to get some of the most stunning portraits with them. Imagine that perfect Texas sunlight, and these two looking like they stepped straight out of a country love story. It was chef’s kiss perfection.

For the reception, Kristen made the ultimate outfit change, swapping her wedding gown for the cutest little reception dress. Think fun, flirty, and perfect for dancing the night away. And with their amazing live band keeping the energy high, you know that dance floor was packed all night. Seriously, the music was on point, and guests were having the best time.

And let’s talk about some of the coolest personal touches they added. Instead of a traditional sign-in book, guests signed a saddle. Yes, a full-on saddle. Talk about the perfect keepsake for a western wedding! Then, when it was time to wrap up the night, they skipped the usual sparkler exit and went all in with a water gun send-off. Everyone was armed and ready, and Kristen and Beau ran through, getting absolutely soaked. It was hilarious, unexpected, and totally them.

Every little detail of their day was a perfect reflection of who they are—laid-back, fun, and completely in love. From the surprise first look to the high-energy party to the water gun exit, Kristen and Beau’s wedding was one for the books. Cheers to the happy couple and their wild, wonderful wedding day! Weddings are magical, unforgettable celebrations—but they can also come with some unexpected expenses! While most couples budget for big-ticket items like the venue, catering, and planning, there are several hidden costs that often get overlooked. To help you stay ahead, here are seven surprising wedding expenses you should plan for:

Many venues and vendors add mandatory service charges or gratuities, which can significantly impact your budget. Most catering companies charge a service fee of 15-20% on top of food and beverage costs, while staffing, bartenders, and even hair and makeup artists may expect gratuity. This doesn’t include any monetary gifts to vendors who you really feel go above and beyond. Make sure to include tips and service fees into your budget to avoid any last minute surprises.
Some venues require couples to purchase event liability insurance in case of damages, accidents, or unexpected cancellations. Even if it’s not required, having event insurance can provide peace of mind. The cost is typically around $100-$300, depending on your coverage and guest count. While this may seem like a minor expense to some, it is something that should be accounted for as the cost varies depending on your guest count and venue requirements.

Your hardworking vendors—photographers, videographers, planners, the DJ or band—will be with you all day, and many contracts stipulate that you must provide them with a meal. Even if their contract doesn’t, it is just good practice. They’re there to make sure your day goes smooth, and an empty stomach definitely won’t do anyone any favors! On average, a wedding has 10 vendor meals that needs to be supplied so take that into account when planning for catering.
While paying vendors with a credit card is convenient, many charge a processing fee of 3-4%, which can add up quickly on big-ticket payments. If your vendor allows alternative payment methods like bank transfers, third-party-payments (like venmo) or cash/checks, you may be able to avoid this extra cost.

Many venues require security and some with specific companies. Make sure to account for security within your budget to avoid another vendor cost popping up at the last moment. To help prepare, ask your venue or planner what the average cost of security is so they can assist with this!
Elegant wedding invitations often require extra postage, especially if they include inserts, RSVP cards, or thicker materials. Depending on your guest count and invitation design, postage fees can add up quickly.
Some venues require a security deposit upfront, which may or may not be refundable. Additionally, if your contract includes cleanup fees, you might be charged extra if guests leave a mess or if vendors don’t handle their own disposal. Always read your contracts so you have a clear understanding of venue expectations.

To ensure your wedding budget stays on track, set aside an extra 5-10% for unexpected expenses. Ask your vendors upfront about additional fees, review contracts carefully, and consider working with a wedding planner who can help you navigate these hidden costs.
Planning a wedding should be exciting—not stressful! By preparing for these often-overlooked expenses, you can enjoy your big day without financial surprises.

Shakodey & Michael wanted a cozy, intimate affair surrounded by their closest friends and family to celebrate the love that had carried them this far. Shakodey and Michael’s big day was exactly that. Nestled in the stunning Texas Hill Country at the beautiful Videre Estate, their wedding was a perfect mix of romance, intimacy, and heartfelt details that made every moment special. From the breathtaking ceremony backdrop to the thoughtful reception touches, this wedding was truly one for the books!
From the moment we started working with Shakodey and Michael as a full-planning couple, we knew their wedding was going to be something special. Over the course of a year, we helped bring their vision to life—not just through planning, but also by designing their florals and decor. One of our favorite elements was the candlelit reception tables, which created the dreamiest, most intimate glow throughout the night and their asymmetrical ceremony arrangements which framed them perfectly while not taking away from the stunning view. Another standout detail? Their sober-friendly drink option—a coffee cart that kept guests cozy and caffeinated all evening long!

The image of Michael tearing up as Shakodey walked down the aisle is a moment that will live rent-free in our heads forever. Their wedding day was blessed with the MOST gorgeous sunlight and created the dreamiest photos we will forever be obsessed with. This ceremony was short and sweet but didn’t stop the laughs and love shared between these two.

Oh, where do we even begin? Their photos turned out absolutely GORGEOUS—every single shot captured the love, joy, and emotion of the day. From intimate pre-ceremony moments to laughter-filled reception celebrations, their wedding gallery is something we’ll be swooning over for a long time. A big shoutout to our pal Lauren Crumpler Photography for this gem of a gallery. One of the most striking details? Shakodey’s bridal transformation! She changed her hairstyle between the ceremony and reception and added long bow sleeves to her dress, giving her an elegant yet fresh second look that was just stunning.

The reception was super cozy complete with so much candelight and a coffee cart even though it was still 80 degrees out (thanks Texas) but the guests absolutely adored it! The entire event was designed to reflect the couple, and every moment of the party reflected Shakodey and Michael’s love for each other and their guests.
Shakodey and Michael’s wedding was the kind that reminds us why we love what we do. The love, the details, the heartfelt moments—it was all pure magic.

There is nothing quite as special as the bond between a dad and his little girl. Weddings tend to bring out the emotional side in all of us, but one of our favorite things about being a wedding planner is getting to witness the sweet moments between a bride and her father on her wedding day. From the first look that brings tears to his eyes to the emotional walk down the aisle, these special interactions are filled with love, pride, and a lifetime of memories. There are countless moments that we could reminisce on from weddings past, but here are a few of our favorite dad & daughter memories captured on wedding days. Grab a tissue because there are some real tearjerkers in here.

One of our favorite questions to ask the Father of the Bride on the wedding day is “Are you going to cry?” whether that be when he sees her for the first time, or when walking her down the aisle. When we asked Jen’s dad Steven he said that really wasn’t how their relationship is. They are more the fun-loving, goofy, always able to crack a smile kind of family. Of course as a wedding planner we don’t see their faces as they walk down, but following the ceremony he mentioned that they “got a little emotional.” When we got their gallery back we were tearing up at how absolutely precious this moment was.

Haden wanted to include her soon-to-be Father-in-law Brett in her first look with her dad. I don’t think any of us expected him to be the one to tear up when he saw her! It made this moment that much more special seeing how loved she already was by her groom’s family.

When we asked Mick if he was going to cry when he saw Samantha, he didn’t hesitate to say “Oh absolutely!” You can tell just by his look how full of love and pride he was. We caught him tearing up a couple more times throughout the wedding day which may have sparked a tear or two from us as well.

During Britney’s first look with her dad John, they weren’t the only ones holding back the tears. Britney’s family watched behind the scenes and we were all struggling to hold it together as he saw her for the first time and she handed him a gift. The custom stitched handkerchief with a letter to her dad on her wedding day had us all wanting to call our dads and tell him we love him. 10/10 would recommend to any bride to gift your dad something special on your wedding day.

Samantha surprised her dad John with a slideshow of photos of the two of them throughout the years during the Father-Daughter dance. We were all a little emotional watching her dad tear up as photos of him and his little girl flashed across the screen.
We could go on and on about all of the heartwarming father-daughter moments we’ve had the honor of witnessing, from tear-filled first looks to choking up during toasts, these are just a few of our favorites that live rent free in our heads. There is nothing quite as special as the bond between a dad and his daughter and we look forward to witnessing many more of these special moments in the future.

When a couple like Grant and Kori decide to tie the knot, you know it’s going to be an unforgettable event. While living in Arizona, the couple decided to do a destination wedding of sorts and said yes to their venue Willow Ridge, located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country.
Grant and Kori opted for a relaxed yet elegant celebration. These two are as laid-back and down-to-earth as it gets, and their wedding day was a true reflection of their personalities. The atmosphere was infused with a fun, lighthearted spirit, as the couple prioritized one thing above all: making sure their guests had an amazing experience. This meant plenty of delicious food, craft cocktails, and an open invitation to dance the night away.
The couple kept their decor simple yet classy and opted for a color palette of neutrals with lots of greenery, and classic black and white accents. A big priority of theirs was greenery on the chandeliers in the venue and it took their reception space to the next level.

Kori & Grant’s ceremony was sweet, intimate, and Texas inspired. The couple opted to share private vows during their private first look but incorporated some innately Texas accents into their ceremony such as a branding ceremony where the couple branded a cowhide. They also opted for a more private “you may kiss the bride” moment hidden by Grants cowboy hat.

The wedding party was the definition of fun, complete with a bridesman who passed out airplane bottles as he walked down the aisle, and a goofy first look between Grant and the Bridesmaids. Grant & Kori’s crew understood the assignment and helped them celebrate and party all the way through send off.

When we saw the gallery for the new Mr. & Mrs. Hampton we were absolutely blown away by their couples portraits. From their late night (semi) trash the dress photo session at the river to the absolutely exquisite Texas Hill Country sunset that graced as cocktail hour came to an end. Their photos turned out beautifully.

Despite a smaller guest count, Kori and Grant celebrated and danced the night away with their friends and family. They were lifted in chairs, did a second grand entrance in a second outfit, and ended the night with a sweet, private last dance and a classic sparkler send off.

Grant and Kori’s wedding was more than just a union of two people—it was a celebration of the community they’ve built around them. Every detail was thoughtfully curated to ensure their guests felt valued and appreciated, turning the entire day into an experience that was as meaningful for their loved ones as it was for them.
Here’s to Grant and Kori—may your lives be as full of adventure, laughter, and love as your wedding day!
